The registrations for Business English and Sake Afrikaans will be closing soon on the 15th of March 2019 which is 6 months earlier than usual. This comes after the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) made an announcement through the memo dated on the 29th of November 2018.

Business English and Sake Afrikaans registrations will be closing soon than normal due to the changes made by the DHET. This comes after calls by the stakeholders requested that the registrations for Business English and Sake Afrikaans be moved closer to the beginning of the year.

Registrations for N3 languages a priority

The changes on the dates has made the registrations for N3 languages a priority from the beginning of 2019 as most students are not aware. The colleges have been advised to circulate the message as fast as possible to students so that they do not miss the registration dates.

Business languages are only offered once in a year and this means that failure for a student to register before the 15th of March will mean that they will not be able to seat for 2019 exams. They will then be able to write their exams in 2020.

Importance of N3 languages

The two languages-Business English and Sake Afrikaans are added to the N3 Engineering certificate to obtain a National Senior certificate. The certificate is offered by Umalusi. After a student has passed four of the N3 engineering studies, the student can then add the two languages to obtain their senior certificate.
